Aussie Arsons is a response to the news articles printed across the globe during the 2019-20 bushfires. These articles undermined the impact climate change was having on the severity of the fires by fabricating stories pointing to arsons as the cause of the fires. Some headlines read like ‘Third arson sentenced in fire spree across Australia’, however, none of these stories could point to actual convictions or locations. 

These arson koalas capture not only the absurdity of these events but also personify the true source of the fires as nature responds to the environmental devastation and irresponsible ignorance of our species.
