Under the Surface *Kurilpa* (2021)

Under the Surface is a series of drawings that uncover the hidden histories of Brisbane. These drawings came about after returning to Brisbane after a number of years away. 

This process of returning brought up questions of reconciling feeling at home in places with traumatic histories. 

Kurilpa Point Park is one of the most beautiful sites in the city, and was the gateway into the arts precinct that I would often ride as a child. My memories of this site are idyllic and nostalgic.  

A violent event occurred here when I was a child, something that was only conveyed to me in quiet conversations or through passing by and overhearing strangers on the street.
